U NDISCOVERED B ULGARIA As summer slips into autumn, Bulgaria transforms into a mosaic of flame-coloured forests, ancient folklore, and warm village hospitality. “Autumn Whispers” invites you on an unforgettable journey through this vibrant season – where nature and tradition meet in glowing harmony.

DAY 1 UK flight departures to Sofia, transfer to your hotel, dinner and overnight. From BIrmingham, you need to travel on Monday 5 October for 2 pre tour nights in Sofia. It is possible to reach Sofia by train from the UK with overnight stays in Munich, Budapest and Bucharest. (D) DAY 2 Morning tour of Sofia with free time for lunch before the afternoon train to Karlukovo. On arrival, we transfer to Lukovit where we enjoy our evening meal together. (B,D) DAY 3 This morning, we enjoy a Jeep tour to Prohodna Cave (“The Eyes of God”) before our transfer to Lovech where, we have a walking tour of the centre including the charming covered bridge. Afterwards, we make our way to Troyan for a fascinating factory visit that produces rakia (a popular fruit brandy). This evening, we transfer to Sevlievo for our dinner and overnight. (B,D) DAY 4 Today, we visit the Pumpkin Festival in Sevlievo which is an annual celebration held every October, blending local agricultural pride with cultural festivities. Late afternoon visit to Veliko Turnovo, the medieval capital city of Bulgaria, picturesquely located on hills above Yantra River and we enjoy a wine-tasting with snacks. Back to Sevlievo, dinner and overnight. (B,D) DAY 5 This morning, we transfer by road to Debelets for the train to Tryavna museum town, crossing the Balkan Mountain range. We enjoy time in Tryavna for sightseeing and visit the museum of woodcarving. This afternoon, we take the train to Stara Zagora to check in at the hotel, dinner and overnight. (B,D)

DAY 6 After breakfast, we take the morning train to Dimitrovgrad, continuing onwards to Podkova which serves as the terminus of the “Rhodope Caterpillar” line, affectionately named due to its slow, scenic route through the mountains. We transfer to Zlatograd, the southernmost town in Bulgaria, and check in with time to relax, enjoy the spa, and take our evening meal. (B,D) DAY 7 This morning, we visit Zlatograd Ethnographic Areal Complex, a unique open-air living museum, blending history, crafts, and local life. Afterwards, we continue to Plovdiv with an evening walking tour ahead of our overnight stay. (B,D) DAY 8 Today, we make our way to Koprivshtitsa, lying on the Topolnitsa River among the Sredna Gora mountains it is known for its authentic Bulgarian architecture and for its folk music festivals. We enjoy a walking tour and free time for lunch before returning to Sofia in time for our farewell dinner with folklore program. (B,D) DAY 9 We transfer to the airport for our flights home. For Heathrow you have a post-tour night and fly back on 16 October. For Liverpool you have two post tour nights and fly back on 17 October.
