DAY 8 Today, we board the Grand Canyon Railway passenger train travelling in Luxury Dome Car Class. We have time to explore the Canyon and the trails before departing to Williams, continuing onwards to Sedona for our two-night stay. (B,L) DAY 9 Today, we have reservations for a spectacular train ride on the Verde Canyon Railroad with captivating panoramic views revealed in every direction. On our way back to our hotel we will make a stop to explore the mining ghost town of Jerome and Jerome State Historic Park. (B) DAY 10 After breakfast, we travel north crossing the Colorado River and following the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument until we enter Utah and the town of Kanab. (B,L) DAY 11 This morning, we enter Bryce Canyon National Park in time to enjoy the morning sunlight shining on the many Hoodoos. We continue to the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, known for its colourful rock formations. Finally, we arrive in the small town of Torrey and check in to our hotel. (B,L) DAY 12 After breakfast, we visit Capitol Reef National Park, a hidden treasure filled with cliffs, canyons, domes and bridges. We then continue to Goblin Valley State Park, Dead Horse Point State Park, and the Canyonlands National Park, all of which provide spectacular views. Finally, we go to nearby Moab for our overnight stay. (L) DAY 13 Today, we drive along the scenic Colorado River making stops at the fantastic rock formations of Castleton and Fisher Towers. At the small ghost town of Cisco, we will follow the Rocky Mountaineer passenger train to the Price River Canyon with excellent photostops along the way. After our picnic lunch, we visit Arches National Park to explore until sunset when we return to our hotel. (B,L) DAY 14 Today, we explore Goosenecks State Park which has one of the most striking examples of an entrenched river meander. Following a photostop at the balanced rock called “Mexican Hat”, we continue to Monument Valley and tour Navajo Nation’s Monument Valley Tribal Park before check in. (B,L) DAY 15 Today, we head towards the state of Colorado visiting the Galloping Goose Historical Society’s Museum and Mesa Verde National Park along the way. We continue to Durango and check-in to our hotel for our overnight stay. (B,L) DAY 16 Today, we will ride the famous Durango and Silverton Railroad through the heart of the Colorado Rockies pulled by one of the railroad’s former Rio Grande steam locomotives. Much of the journey will be in the remote and rugged wilderness of the Animas River Canyon and, on

arrival in Silverton, we will explore this classic western mining town. You will have plenty of time to get some lunch before returning to Durango for an evening at leisure. (B) DAY 17 This morning, we board the steam train on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad for a journey up and over the Rocky Mountains to Antonito, Colorado. On arrival, you will have the opportunity to photograph the crew watering and oiling the steam locomotive and visit the workshop area. Afterwards, we travel the short distance by road to Alamosa. (B,L) DAY 18 After breakfast, we visit the depot and workshops of the former Rio Grande Scenic Railroad. We then travel to nearby Sand Dunes National Park for a short visit before boarding the lunch train on the Royal Gorge Scenic Railroad for a spectacular journey enjoying a gourmet lunch on board. We continue by road to Colorado Springs for an evening at leisure. (B,L) DAY 19 After breakfast, we visit the fascinating Garden of the Gods rock formations before travelling to Manitou Springs for the morning train on the Boardmore, Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Here, we enjoy a spectacular 9-mile journey to the summit for breathtaking views. On our return, we have time to explore Manitou Springs before continuing to our hotel in Golden, Colorado for an evening at leisure. (B) DAY 20 After breakfast, we drive to Georgetown where we have time to explore this historic mountain mining town. We then board the morning train on the Georgetown Loop Railroad scaling an elevation of 640 feet over mountainous terrain, requiring trestles, cuts, fills, loops, and curves to Silver Plume and return. Afterwards, we visit the Colorado Railroad Museum to explore their large collection and ride around the museum grounds before returning to the hotel for our Farewell Dinner. (L,D) DAY 21 Today, we travel by rail to the impressive Denver Union Station with time to explore this beautiful landmark. Our last activity of the tour will be a visit to the Forney Museum of Transportation which is a unique collection of artifacts. Finally, it is time to head to the airport for our flights home. This tour is operated by our friends at PTG Tours in conjunction with Railtrail.
