H ebridean O dyssey

Experience the ultimate island-hopping adventure in the Outer Hebrides visiting an impressive eight islands. Discover unspoilt, white sandy beaches, spectacular scenery, amazing wildlife, and impressive mountain ranges. Learn the unique and fascinating history of the Hebrides, journey on the West Highland Line, and enjoy free time to explore Inverness.

DAY 1 Journey from your home station to Glasgow and, on arrival, we will make our way to the Radisson Blu Hotel for our overnight stay. We enjoy free time to explore our new surroundings before meeting for our first evening meal together. (D) DAY 2 After a leisurely breakfast this morning, we transfer to the station to join our train travelling north on the stunning West Highland Line , admiring the watery landscapes of the Firth of Clyde and Gareloch. With scenery becoming ever more dramatic, we trundle beside Loch Long and Loch Lomond before climbing into the western Highlands and continuing northwards over Rannoch Moor towards our destination of Fort William where we check in to our overnight hotel, the Alexandra, and enjoy our evening meal together. (B,D) DAY 3 After breakfast today, we continue our journey to the Isles by private coach travelling via the Skye Bridge, Broadford, and over the famous Cuillin Hills to the capital of Portree where we enjoy free time. In the early evening, we travel the shores of Loch Snizort to Uig for our ferry cruise to North Uist and enjoy our evening meal on board. Our journey to Benbecula takes us past numerous lochans and beautiful beaches before we arrive at the Dark Island Hotel* for our two-night stay. (B,D) *In September, the tour will stay at the Isle of Benbecula House Hotel. DAY 4 Today, the island hopping begins by taking the causeway across to South Uist where the west coast is a continuous sandy beach, and the east is dominated by mountainous peaks before continuing to the Isle of Eriskay , famous for the Eriskay Ponies and the story of ‘Whisky Galore’. From here, we enjoy the short ferry crossing to the Isle of Barra

which is considered by many to be the most beautiful little island in Britain and, with a packed lunch included, we can venture across the causeway to stunning Vatersay, the most southerly inhabited island in the Outer Hebrides, before returning to the hotel in time for our evening meal together. (B,L,D) DAY 5 After breakfast this morning, we depart our hotel for our onward journey to North Uist , a paradise for wildlife characterised by its ‘drowned landscape’ of peat bogs and lochans.We take the morning ferry to the Isle of Lewis and Harris , a rugged landscape of deep-sea lochs and mountains, and we enjoy a guided tour of Harris before continuing northwards past beautiful white sandy beaches and breathtaking scenery to Lewis. On arrival at the capital of Stornoway, we travel to the Cabarfeidh Hotel, our hotel for the next two nights, and enjoy our evening meal together. (B,L,D) DAY 6 Today, we explore Lewis , the most northerly island of the Hebrides and the largest island of the Outer Hebrides.We enjoy a full day tour in the company of our island guide discovering the dramatic landscape and exploring the rich history including the ancient broch at Carloway and a traditional thatched blackhouse settlement. We return to the hotel in time for our evening meal together. (B,D) DAY 7 This morning, we depart the Hebrides by ferry travelling from Stornoway to Ullapool before our spectacular journey through to Inverness and our overnight hotel, the Kingsmills.We enjoy free time to explore Inverness before reconvening for our final evening meal together. (B,D) DAY 8 After breakfast, we bid farewell to Inverness and make our way to the station for our homeward journeys. (B)
