‘paddle steamer’ cruising gently along Mariager Fjord , Denmark’s longest, to Mariager. Here we continue on the Mariager Handest Heritage Railway to Handest, which is scheduled to operate with steam on a 17km ride through an unspoilt part of Denmark. (B,D) DAY 9 A short train journey takes us to Aarhus , Denmark’s second city, where you have free time to explore independently, with a variety of attractions including the Botanical Gardens, Den Gamle By Open Air Museum, the ARoS Art Museum and the city’s very own Tivoli Gardens. (B,D) DAY 10 Heading south, we leave Denmark, crossing Schleswig Holstein and Lower Saxony en route to Bremen for two nights at the InterCity Hotel. (B,D) DAY 11 Today’s excursion boards the Moor Express . This heritage diesel railcar plies the route at weekends between Bremen and Stade across Teufelsmoor
