DAY 3 Heading inland today, we travel alongside Hadrian’s Wall to Vindolanda, one of Europe’s most important Roman archaeological sites. As well as having the chance to view thousands of extraordinary Roman artefacts, we also get to watch live excavations. From here, we are transported to the S outh Tynedale Railway for a steam** journey through the stunning North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on England’s highest narrow gauge railway. (B,D) DAY 4 Leaving Newcastle, today we travel north to Bamburgh for a visit to Bamburgh Castle – once home to the Kings of Northumbria. Standing proudly on the edge of the North Sea, the castle has lots to explore from over 1,400 years of history. Our private coach then transfers us to Seahouses where we board our boat for a 90 minute trip towards the Farne Islands , to view the stunning wildlife on one
