DAY 1 For those booking our rail inclusive package we travel along the spine of Scotland. Leaving the Lowlands behind, the wonderfully picturesque Highland Line takes us through Per th, Pitlochry and over the Cairngorm Mountains to Inverness . Our base in Inverness for the next four nights, is the wonderful Palace Hotel located on the banks of the River Ness. We enjoy a welcome cocktail on arrival before our evening meal. (D) DAY 2 This morning, after a leisurely full Scottish breakfast (with at least 54 choices!), we transfer by private coach to the Glen Ord Distillery where we enjoy a fascinating guided tour, concluding with a wee dram. We enjoy our packed lunch before a cruise of legendary Loch Ness with stunning scenery including historic Urquhar t Castle. We can visit the magnificent cathedral church, lovely riverside cafes, and historic Old Town. A light lunch is served at the hotel today along an afternoon cream tea of scones and cakes .We can relax at the hotel or spend time in the superb leisure club before dinner. (B,L,LR,D) DAY 4 We take the amazing Kyle Line train , Scotland’s original “ Great Railway Journey of theWorld ”, coast-to-coast through stunning winter scenery and across mountain plateau. Look out for wild deer, eagles, and Plockton village, before dramatic sea vistas are revealed as we arrive at Kyle of Lochalsh . Here we enjoy our packed lunch , overlooking the Isle of Skye, before retracing our steps to Inverness. In the afternoon we warm up back at the hotel with an afternoon cream tea of scones and cakes . (B,L,LR,D) DAY 5 We bid farewell to Inverness and, if travelling by train, return over the mountains to Edinburgh and homeward stations.
