Our new leisurely Lake District tour stays on the Cumbrian Coast in a picturesque setting overlooking Morecambe Bay and includes nostalgic steam railway journeys through spectacular scenery, a relaxing cruise onWindermere, plus a visit to the Lakeland Motor Museum and afternoon tea at stately Leighton Hall.

DAY 1 We arrive at Grange-over-Sands station and transfer the shor t distance to the Cumbria Grand Hotel, in its picturesque location on the Cumbrian coast. (D) DAY 2 This morning we travel by train along the wonderful Cumbria coastline from Grange-over-Sands to Carnforth , here we enjoy a brief visit to the restored 1940’s Station Heritage Centre from the scene of the famous film “Brief Encounter”.We continue by private coach to the traditional seaside resor t of Morecambe where we have free time to relax and take a stroll along the seafront promenade. In the afternoon we travel to the historic yet homely, Leighton Hall for a guided tour and traditional afternoon tea .We return to our hotel by train from Carnfor th. DAY 3 Our private coach takes us the shor t journey to beautiful Bowness on Windermere , from here we take a leisurely cruise to the southern tip of Lake Windermere .We then board our vintage steam train to journey through the picturesque Vale of Leven to the village of Haver thwaite. In the afternoon take a trip down memory lane with a visit to the Lakeland Motor Museum , complete with a 1920’s garage, 1950’s café and over 140 classic cars and motorbikes plus, the fascinating Campbell Bluebird Exhibition. We then return aboard our private coach to Grange-over- Sands. (B,D) DAY 4 Today we travel by train from Grange-over-Sands and discover stunning seascapes and beautiful scenery as we head nor th to Ravenglass on the Cumbrian Coast. Here we enjoy a return journey on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway to Dalegar th, where we will disembark for a shor t break before our 40 minute return steam journey. On arrival back at Ravenglass we enjoy a guided museum tour telling the 150 year history of the railway, affectionately known as the ‘Ratty’. We can sit back, relax, and enjoy more wonderful costal vistas from the comfor t of our seats as we return to our hotel by train for our final evening.
