We will stay five nights at the Sure Hotel by Best Western conveniently situated just yards from the main station. DAY 2 After breakfast today, we will take the train via Muhldorf and change to Freilassing for a visit to the Locomotive World , a fascinating collection of steam, early electric and diesel locomotives situated in a 17-stall roundhouse. We will continue our day travelling along the scenic Berchtesgaden branch line before returning to Munich by a different route. (B) DAY 3 Today we are riding into the most scenic area of Bavaria, firstly to the beautiful market town of Murnau before travelling over the branch line to Oberammergau where there is free time for a coffee and to explore this famous town. Returning to Murnau, we then ride past stunning mountain scenery along the “corridor” route through

Austria between Garmisch and Kempten, via Reute, before continuing onwards to Munich. (B) DAY 4 After breakfast, we take the train via Munich Ost to Bad Endorf for a vintage railbus ride on the 12-mile preserved Chiemgauer Lokalbahn line to Obing and return. It’s just a five-minute train ride from there to Prien for the steam tram operation, built in 1887, on the short line to the harbour of the Chiemsee , a freshwater lake with nearby mountains providing a majestic backdrop for lunch. After a ride over the short branch to Aschau , we return to Munich with time to ride the trams which are free on our regional pass. (B) DAY 5 We have a relaxed start to our day before we ride the train through Buchloe and Memmingen, over the causeway, to the lovely town of Lindau situated on an island on the shores of Lake Konstanz . We enjoy time at leisure to take lunch and explore this charming town admiring the picturesque harbour or navigating the cobblestone streets to find family-run shops, quaint cafés, and restaurants before returning to Munich via a different
