From our tour base at an outstanding 4-star lakeside resort hotel on the most popular eastern shore of Lake Garda, this tour takes us on visits to beautiful lakeside towns, romantic Verona and the picturesque island city of Venice. DAY 1 By Eurostar to Lille Europe and onward by high-speed train to Lyon for a welcome evening meal at the Mercure Hotel. (D) DAY 2 Our journey continues to Lake Garda . Our train arrives into Peschiera station where our private coach meets us to transfer us to beautiful Bardolino one of the lakes most popular and idyllic resorts. Our tour base for the next six nights, the lovely Parc Hotel Gritti is situated at the lakeside just a short stroll from the old town. DAY 3 Relax at leisure on a stress-free day in delightful Bardolino, enjoying its scenic medieval centre with numerous charming bars and cafés. The hotel features complimentary tea with cookies and cakes between 16.00 and 17.00 which you may wish to make use of on your free days. Should you like to explore and stretch your legs you may wish to take a leisurely stroll to the neighbouring medieval town of Lazise with its wide promenade and 13th century defensive walls circling the historic centre. (B,LR,D) DAY 4 This morning we visit the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Lake Garda – the peninsular of Sirmione with its lovely moated castle and medieval centre. From here we travel into the countryside which bore witness to many battles. We discover the small chapel at San Martino della Battaglia which pays homage to this epic period of history with its astonishing ‘ossary’ before we continue into the hills to Trattoria da Arturo . Here we enjoy some wonderful handmade pasta with grilled meats and salad washed down with plenty of homemade wine – a relaxing and authentic Italian experience. (B,L,D)

DAY 5 We start the day with a leisurely morning before we board our private coach to the romantic city of Verona . Famed for being the setting of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’, our guided tour takes us to the ‘ Capulet’ balcony that has a starring role in the play, along with Verona’s beautiful cathedral , the Castelvecchio and the Roman amphitheatre at Piazza Bra where the crowds gather in the summer to experience the Opera.
