Experience a charming combination of culinary delights and railway adventures on this festive tour to Switzerland. Indulge in tastings of two famous Swiss products, cheese and chocolate, and learn of their history and production. Journey on the panoramic GoldenPass Express, the fantastic Cogwheel Railway at Rochers-de-Naye, and visit the medieval Chillon Castle plus enjoy free time in Montreux to explore their famous Christmas Market.

DAY 1 Travelling by Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris, then onwards to Montreux and our hotel for four nights, the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, where we check in and enjoy our first evening meal together. (D) DAY 2 Today, we board our private coach to the cheese factory of Maison du Gruyère where we explore the dairy, learn the history of the factory, and discover the secrets of cheese making before enjoying some time at leisure in the village of Gruyères where you can wander the cobblestoned streets or visit the remarkable Gruyères Castle. We continue to Maison Cailler to explore the history of chocolate, learning how Swiss chocolate is produced and, of course, we can indulge in a tasting before returning to Montreux for an evening at leisure. time before continuing by road to Col du Pillon. Here, we ascend in cable cars to Glacier des Diablerets for breathtaking panoramic mountain views and we experience walking on a real glacier. Afterwards, we return to Montreux in time for our evening meal together. (B,D) DAY 4 After breakfast, we journey by rail to Veytaux-Chillon for a self-guided tour of the medieval Chillon Castle , perched dramatically at the water’s edge against a stunning mountain backdrop. This afternoon, we will travel on the fantastic Rochers-de-Naye Cogwheel Railway taking us to an altitude of 2,000m for unique winter views over Lake Geneva before we retrace our steps to Montreux and enjoy our final evening meal together. (B,D) DAY 5 We bid farewell to Montreux and to Switzerland, returning by rail to Paris, where we will join the Eurostar service to London St Pancras. (B)
