DAY 4 Today, the island hopping begins by taking the causeway across to South Uist where the west coast is a continuous sandy beach, and the east is dominated by mountainous peaks before continuing to the Isle of Eriskay , famous for the Eriskay Ponies and the story of ‘Whisky Galore’. From here, we enjoy the short ferry crossing to the Isle of Barra which is considered by many to be the most beautiful little island in Britain with its tranquil beaches, distinctive culture, and ancient history. A packed lunch is included today, and we can venture across the causeway to stunning Vatersay, the most southerly inhabited island in the Outer Hebrides, before returning to the hotel in time for our evening meal together. (B,L,D) DAY 5 After breakfast this morning, we depart our hotel for our onward journey via the Benbecula causeway to North Uist , a paradise for wildlife characterised by its ‘drowned landscape’ of peat bogs and lochans. We take the morning ferry to the Isle of Lewis and Harris, a rugged landscape of moorland, deep-sea lochs, mountains, and a proud history. A packed lunch is included today, and we enjoy a guided tour of Harris before continuing northwards past beautiful white sandy beaches and breathtaking scenery to Lewis. On arrival at the capital of Stornoway, we travel to the Cabarfeidh Hotel, our base for the next two nights, and enjoy our evening meal together. (B,L,D)
