After breakfast we return to the rails for the journey to the junction station of Timmelkam for an exclusive steam charter over the standard gauge branch to Ampflwang, photo run pasts included, and a visit to the steam roundhouse museum of the ÖGEG a former mining area.The huge collection here includes around 100 locos and rolling stock. A full day is dedicated to this wonderful opportunity of steam along a line that is rarely visited by UK enthusiasts (B) DAY 5 Away from the rails we travel by private coach to visit another line rarely on the UK enthusiast horizon, the Ybbstalbahn at Kienberg for the morning steam hauled train over the scenic steeply graded 18km narrow gauge line to Lunz am See and return. On return to Linz there is time to ride the very steep Postlingbergbahn tram line in the suburbs. (B) DAY 6 An early breakfast is followed by taking a fast train to St. Polten for their once a-month steam working over the 84km Mariazellerbahn. The first section to

mixed train, photo run-pasts included. Return to Linz, collect our luggage and continue by rail to Regensburg for overnight hotel stay at our hotel by the station. After registering an evening meal is included at a local restaurant in this UNESCO protected historical city. (B,D) DAY 8 Departing Regensburg after breakfast we travel by ICE to Frankfurt connecting to Brussels and Eurostar to London with an anticipated arrival time of 19.00 hrs for onward journeys to home stations. Obergrafendorf (16km) with vintage electric then a thrilling ride behind the 1908-built Mh6 steam loco up the grades to Mariazell over 2,800 feet above sea level.The museum tramway will also be in action at Mariazell to take us down to the lake.We return as outward along a line that for many will be the absolute highlight of the tour. (B) DAY 7 By rail to Steyr and private bus to Grunburg for a steam hauled charter over the 17 km 760mm gauge Steyrtalbahn with an authentic

Voklamarkt for a vintage 1914 tram charter on the Atterseebahn travelling at a sedate pace in an heritage vehicle through the rural and picturesque Attergau region to Lake Attersee. Returning to Voklamarkt we travel on to Attnang-Puchheim changing to Gmunden for a tram down to the lovely lakeside town.
