Steam Powered Tours Throughout the Year 2017

Steam Power keeps March-ing on!

It was in March 1963 that Dr Beeching issued his first report, named ‘The Reshaping of British Railways’, which eventually resulted in the closure of mile after mile of track and thousands of stations. Since then, pioneers of railway preservation and tireless volunteers have donated their time, skills and finance to preserve as much of our railway history as possible. It’s fitting then that this March 2017 we are launching our biggest ever steam and heritage programme! We normally mail out the tours in leaflet format, but this year’s selection is bigger and better, so we decided to bind it into its own brochure. Whilst retaining many ever popular, tried and trusted, steam tours we are also delighted to invite you to join us aboard a number of brand new itineraries in Britain, Belgium, Holland and Germany, countries as passionate about railway preservation as we are at Railtrail.

Whatever the season you can be sure that ‘steam’ is a great attraction and you may notice that a lot of the tours travel through spectacular scenery, and so may well appeal to both enthusiasts and partners alike.

Being very much an enthusiast myself I will be attending many of the events at the Great Central Railway this year, including the magnificent Model Railway event that is a centre-piece of our tour in June. My colleagues Rob & Maeve will also be at a number of other events, so please come and say hello!

And if you haven’t already, please go to our website www.railtrail.co.uk and register to receive our weekly email. We often release new tours by email first, as well as Railtrail Loyalty Points promotions, so it’s well worth keeping up-to-date with us.

Well that’s enough from me for now, please enjoy a spot of armchair steam travel and I hope we have the pleasure of your company during 2017.
